No.86831, Gunner, Arthur James MOULE
Aged 26

"B" Battery, 64th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery
Died of his Wounds on Sunday, 29th July 1917

Arthur James Moule was born in Burwell in 1891 (Newmarket Q4-1891 3B:507), son of George Richard and Mary MOULE (née HALL).

1901 census...Aged 10, Arthur J 'Mole' was at North Street, Burwell with his father George R.'MOLE' [[36] labourer born Gazeley; his mother Mary [33] born Burwell; sister Anne B [12]; brothers Ernest [7] and Alfred G. [4]. All the children were born in Burwell.

1911 census...Aged 20, farm labourer, he was at North Street, Burwell with his parents, brothers Ernest and Alfred George (both farm labourers) and sisters Martha [7] and Bessie [6] both born in Burwell.

On 8th April 1916, in Burwell, he married Sarah COPPIN.
Until he joined the Army the family name always seemed to be recorded as MOLE, after that it is MOULE.

He enlisted in Newmarket.
Being in the Artillery and also dying of his wounds there is little chance of finding where or exactly when he was wounded. No one else from his battery died that day.
